William looked angrily over his shoulder, pulled his black lips back to expose his fangs and turned again without a word, leaving his speechless father in his dust. There was nothing anyone could say or do that would make him turn around and apologies. It was stupid "King Harley's" fault that there was a fight in the first place. He was so pushy, so strict, that poor Will had no choice but to rebel. He was never ever going to have any fun in this life if he was not aloud to be a teenager and do something fun every once in a while. The sun was shinning brightly, and it felt like a day to go exploring, not get caught up in the dark camp. He wanted to live, to have fun. But, no, instead, he was stuck at the camp, literally bored to death, getting lessons on how to be a gentleman. That's fun. NOT!
So, instead of facing the insults and things at camp, young William, sole heir to the throne of Evalyn, made his way over to the Rabbit Creek, his favorite place to escape reality...and his father. "King" Harley, never went to Rabbit Creek, because he said that there were far to many bugs...or something like that. Actually, he rarely left the camp. Clara, Will's mother, was a lot more like her son, but she was powered by Harley, and therefore also stayed in the camp. She was too shy to speak up for herself in the presence of Harley, but time to time she snuck away to spend time with her beloved son down by the creek or any other place, really. She was the one who showed him the big wide world, the one who told him to follow his dreams and explore like any normal rebel teen would do. Harley did just the opposite. He trashed dreams, never had fun and didn't let his son go anywhere. It were those rare moments with his mother that William had that made him believe that there was a purpose to life besides ruling Evalyn.
With a sigh, the black shepherd wadded into the cold creek waters. The icy liquid swam squeamishly around his pads, chilling them. Although the water-level was no higher than the top of his paw, Will's entire body was chilled instantly. It felt good though. Warm wind blew around his fur, whispering sweet songs in his stick-up ears. The shadow dog closed his eyes, and dreamed that he was somewhere else, anywhere else. Just somewhere...away.
A twig snapped behind him. Eyes jetting open, the male German shepherd spun around then laughed at who it was. Wading back out of the water then giving a shake even though he was hardly out, he called Hey, Kylee! It was his friend, the newcomer to the pack. When the two had meet, they had instantly become friends, just because they were so alike in so many ways. Whatcha doing down here? Even though his father was always scolding him when he used 'slang', Will always used it behind his back. What he doesn't know wouldn't hurt him, right?
